Intensive English Courses

Paddy and Vicki Salmon taught for 25 years in France at the International Section of the Lycée and Collège de Sèvres. We believe that the best way of learning language is through literature, drama and history. We run 5-day courses with small groups where we can focus on individuals and enable them to gain confidence in their studies at all levels.

Paddy Salmon

Paddy read English at St John's College, Cambridge and taught for 13 years in England. He was Head of English and Drama for 25 years at Sèvres.  He has examined for IGCSEs and the British OIB (Option Internationale du Baccalauréat) for many years. He has been an Assistant Moderator for Cambridge CIE and president of ASIBA, the association which supports the British OIB in international sections.

As a university counsellor for UK universities, he has much experience in guiding students in their choice of further education.

Vicki Salmon

Vicki read English at Westfield College, London University and taught English for many years in England (as well as bringing up our 3 children). In Sèvres, where she taught for 25 years, she was mainly responsible for overseeing English and drama in the junior classes at Sèvres and Chaville. She has, however, taught the full age range from 11-18

Learning a language is hard work, but it CAN be fun. The 5 hours of intensive study are designed to address the pupils' individual needs. The rhythm is not too severe, however,  and we relax for the rest of the time, talking as we do so. There are walks and games on the beach (and fossil hunting/shrimping), local history expeditions, badminton, table tennis, cooking and evening sessions of blackjack or a film.

The garden is extensive  and pupils can let off steam there, depending on the weather. The Pays de Caux is a beautiful area and the village we live in is very quiet and serene. It's an ideal place to recharge one's batteries.
